My Home (Review 15)
A warm and cheery bilingual picture
'The picture of the smiley-eyed boy laughing on the book cover struck me like a shot when I first saw it. I like seeing the bright smiles of children and sharing in their happiness.'
'The words 'HDB flat' isn't a familiar one, hence I had to do some research on Baidu. It turns out that a HDB flat is a form of public housing built by Singapore's Housing and Development Board and a majority of Singaporeans live in them. This is a little similar to China's economical housing. My Home is a book which revolves around the people and happenings in the flat.'
'The language is fluid and natural, leaving one with the impression that one is not a reader, but the protagonist speaking inside the book.'
